This is your reminder to check in on your loved ones in the Midwest. They might be struggling

A little cream of mushroom soup, salt and pepper…. My mom made that about 2x a month

It has potential. Right now it’s just sad.

Your “bullying the British for their food” licence is revoked. This is a war crime

I’m from the south. Years ago I was dating a woman from the Midwest. She wanted to cook for each other as a sort of cultural exchange. I went first, made a big southern meal. Suddenly she didn’t want to cook for me anymore. The reason was Midwest food is like this.

I would make this for my family and then wonder why they didn’t eat it.

This would be fine if everything were better.

I know that sounds silly, but meat/beans/potato/cheese is a good start. But you definitely need a binder–everyone mentions cream of mushroom and it’s a good staple for these casseroles, but in this case I might suggest golden mushroom soup instead. Opt for shredded cheese instead of American slices (cheddar?) and you’re pretty much good to go.

Somebody liked it bc it’s half gone 🤣

Oh that makes my little Southern heart sad… so, so sad… gotta at least add onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Real chopped onions, freshly minced garlic, cream of mushroom soup, a little bit of Worcestershire sauce, and a little bit of season all would definitely be the best option. Maybe even some bell pepper just to add a little extra flavor, if you’re into bell pepper and some pepper jack cheese sprinkled on top. That’s usually how I do my tater tot casserole and it’s fab-u-lous! I got my inspiration for that version from the Monterey melt at Whataburger lol.

That cow died for its red meat to be turned grey.

I really need to stop looking at these posts. They make me irationally angry.

That has got to be the worst attempt at a tater tor hotdish I’ve ever seen.

  18. babyytyy99

As a Wisconsinite the Kraft singles are my biggest red flag. Theres SO many better cheese options that could have made this dish somewhat enjoyable 😭

  19. Cosmic-95

Why do people insist on using that plastic that’s pretending to be cheese.

  20. WesternZucchini5343

That’s just sad. I can’t think of anything else to add

  21. tankavenger

Damn I guessed before I even saw the description

Do you need the number to an orphanage, sweety?

  25. Averagebaddad

“Casserole” is in quotes cause we northerners know it’s called hot dish

  26. Downtown_Brother6308

Shitty take on tater tot casserole, an otherwise tasty midwestern delicacy

  27. muzzynat

As a minnesotan, this is a fucking declaration of war (and I don’t even like tatortot hotdish)
